Like the Enterprise Alabama Parks page. The Enterprise Recreational Complex is a great place to hang out, let the kids play, walk the nature trails, or just enjoy the weather. We know you're interested in knowing where your child will be attending school.

We've also added a directory of Enterprise Alabama and Fort Rucker area churches. Now, we may not have listed every single one (and there are lots) but we tried to give you a pretty good list.

What is the Market doing in Enterprise?

It seems that everyday people ask me about the real estate market in our area. Is it a Buyer’s Market? All the national news seems depressing………ugh!

I had been telling folks that we were feeling it a little in the Enterprise, Alabama real estate market - new home prices are down some and that there are lots of homes on the market in the $225000 to $325,000 market (about 18 months supply based on the last absorption study I heard) but that homes are still selling and the market is good.

I have gotten some pretty low ball offers lately and I was beginning to questions my market data and found out some interesting facts. The house I had listed was on the market in the high $180’s and the offer was something like $164,900 or something silly like that so I thought I would “dig in” and see what was really going on.

I pulled up everything that has sold in the last 60 days in a price range of around $150,000 to $195,000 and discovered that the list price to sales price ratio was 98%. WOW!

Then I thought, I better pull out all the new construction, guess what, it was still 98%.

So, that means that Sellers aren’t having to take blood baths on the sales price like the national news was saying. Then I decided to look a little deeper.

This is what I found - during the last 12 months the number of homes that sold is down 12% over the same time frame the previous 12 months but the sales prices are up 2% and the time on the market is down 22%. During the last 12 months it took an average of 108 days to sell a house and the previous 12 months’ average was 132 days on the market. Now, the market area I took into consideration was Enterprise,Alabama, Daleville and New Brockton.

So, if the question is: Is it a Buyer’s Market?

I think my answer would be, not yet. Don’t know if it will be either and on the other hand, it isn’t a Seller’s Market either.

If you are looking for real estate in Enterprise, Alabama or the Fort Rucker area, give us a call at 334-347-6610. Or email me at becky@realtor.com We'll be happy to discuss the Enterprise, Alabama real estate market with you.

Around Enteprise

Even though Enterprise, Alabama is a progressive town, we still have reminders of the charming parts of the old south as evidenced by some of the architecture around town. If you are thinking of moving to Enterprise and looking for homes for sale, we thought you might be interested in what our city looks like. In the next weeks and months, we'll show you around town.

We have to start with the Boll Weevil Monument.

You can probably guess that Enterprise, like much of southern Alabama, started as an agricultural community. (And we still love our farmers!) Cotton was the main crop for farmers in this area in the 19th century. But in 1915, about 60% of the cotton crop was destroyed by the Mexican Boll Weevil that had spread from Texas to Alabama. The farmers in the Enterprise area did not give in to the dire circumstances. Instead they switched to planting peanuts, and a mere two years later the farmers in this Coffee County harvested more peanuts than any other county in the country. That's enterprising thinking, if you ask us.

So in 1919, the people of Enterprise erected a monument in the center of town - yep, right in the middle of main street and a block away from the courthouse so no one could miss it. The inscription on the base of the monument is inscribed: "in profound appreciation of the boll weevil and what it has done as the herald of prosperity this monument was erected by the citizens of Enterprise, Coffee County, Alabama. "

All Enterprise school children are taught that the Boll Weevil Monument is a symbol of man's willingness and ability to adjust to adversity. We think that's a very good lesson to learn. For all ages.

If you are reading this blog and you're looking for homes for sale, we thought you might want to know about the lady in the middle of town.

Friday Night Lights in Enterprise

enterprise alabama football stadium
August 31 saw the first football game of the 2007 season get underway at Bates Memorial Stadium in Enterprise, AL. After the March 2006 tornado destroyed school and heavily damaged the stadium, the game was a welcome symbol of the rebuilding process. Generous donations helped rebuild the stadium in time for football season, including a donation from Enterprise Rent-A-Car in the amount of $50,000 back in June.
enterprise alabama football game
We think that's a neat gift. The regional vide president of the Atlanta-based company said, "We share more than a name with this city. We've shared our community's pain these past few months, and we're proud to share its hopes for the future. This gift from our Foundation comes with good wishes from my company's more -than 65,000 employees and especially from those of us who call this community home."
Enterprise alabama marching band
An Enterprise High School football game would not be complete without the award winning Big Blue Band. And even though Mother Nature was not cooperating that night, the band, the football team and all of the fans showed a lot of heart by braving the thunderstorm.

Fort Rucker's heart was there too. As the game began, a UH-1 Huey flyover salute by the pilots from the Army Aviation Heritage Foundation brought tears to many people's eyes. Those helicopters were on hand to transport injured storm victims back in March and the citizens of Enterprise will always be grateful for their good neighbors.

Don't let all this storm talk fool you. There are many wonderful homes for sale in Enterprise right now. Give our site a look and you'll see for yourself!
